WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS – Katie Givens' goal with :6 seconds remaining in the first half proved to be the difference in Midwestern State's 1-0 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce on Thursday night at Stang Park.
Givens' goal, her first of the season, came off a free kick as the junior headed home a service from Cora Welch.
"Against a team like Texas A&M-Commerce, you cannot give up a set piece 20 seconds before halftime," MSU Head Coach
Ryan Spence said.
The Mustangs fired 10 shots in the game, including four from
Avery Lewis. The junior's best chance of the night, a 35th minute strike from inside the 18-yard box, was turned aside by Jen Peters.
"We are in games but we need to be more clinical," said Spence. "We need a win on Saturday against UT Tyler to end the regular season with some momentum."
Aubrey Pettett made a career-high 11 saves in the loss.
