Garcia scores in season finale

Mustangs and UT Tyler play to 1-1 draw on senior day

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State closed out the 2019 season with a 1-1 draw against UT Tyler on senior day at Stang Park. Prior to the game, the Mustangs recognized Sarah Stewart, Imani Morlock, and Michaelann Greenfield. The trio helped MSU to 30 wins and two NCAA Tournament appearances during their time in the Maroon and Gold.

"Imani has been the heart of the team for the last four or five years while Sarah has been the mom of the team,"
MSU Head Coach Ryan Spence said. "Michaelann has been one of the hardest working girls we have had here."

On the field, Senna Garcia broke a scoreless game in the 75th minute, heading home a Valentina Carvajal corner kick to push Midwestern State in front. Just over six minutes later, the Patriots tied the game when Kaycee West buried a Mariah Harmon pass off of Aubrey Pettett and into the net.

Neither team was able to convert in overtime, despite MSU firing four shots.

"We definitely fought hard today," said Spence. "We had our first good second half in quite a while."

Avery Lewis led all players with six shots.
