LUBBOCK, Texas -- Midwestern State seniors
Sarah Eakin and
Rockelle Gholson delivered top efforts in a five-set loss to Lubbock Christian Saturday afternoon at Rip Griffin Center.
Despite racing out to a 25-18 opening set win, the Mustangs suffered consecutive 26-24 setbacks before forcing a deciding set with a 25-23 victory in the fourth stanza.
The Lady Chaps finished off the match with a 15-13 win in the fifth set to claim their fourth straight victory improving to 13-10 on the season and 7-7 in Lone Star Conference play.
Eakin led Midwestern State's attack with 14 kills on 33 swings for a.242 kill percent. She also added eight total blocks.
Gholson notched 13 kills and added a team-high 23 digs, while junior libero
Audry Lopez had 20 digs.
Freshman setter
Kaitlyn Masseth recorded 25 set assists leading the Mustangs to a.142 team attack percentage.
Avery Moore and Ashley Van Fleet had 14 kills each to pace LCU, while Morgan Schwarz and Hailey Cournoyer added 10 kills apiece.
Midwestern State returns to action against Texas Woman's at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
