WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State clinched a playoff spot on the final day of the regular season with a 3-1 win over Cameron on Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. It is the Mustangs first trip to the Lone Star Conference Tournament since 2016.

"It is a great accomplishment for our team," MSU Head Coach Valerie Armstrong said. "I am so proud of them."

On senior day, it was only fitting that Rockelle Gholson, Sarah Eakin, and Sarah Glawe would star for the Maroon and Gold. Gholson notched her eighth double-double of the season with a 15-kill 10-dig performance while Eakin collected six kills and seven blocks to move into second place on the all-time total blocks list at MSU with 319. Glawe dished out her most assists, 26, since hitting that number on October 5.

MSU raced out to an 8-0 lead in the opening set and never looked back in a 25-13 win. The Mustangs hit .360 in the opening stanza, their highest kill rate of the match.

"We came out focused on our serve and just executed on defense," Armstrong said. "It was a great way to gain the momentum for the match and set the tone."

Cameron tied the match at 1-1 with a 27-25 win in the second set. The Mustangs battled back from three set points to knot the set at 25-25 before an Arianna Navarrete kill and an attack error evened the match.

Midwestern State won the next two sets, 25-18 and 25-20 to punch their ticket to the postseason.

"We are just going to enjoy this win and we will find out on Sunday where we go," Armstrong said.
