TYLER, Texas – Sarah Eakin (13 kills), Rockelle Gholson (11 kills), and Lauren Honeycutt (11 kills) all recorded double digit kills to lift the Mustangs to an epic five set win over the UT Tyler Patriots on Friday night inside the Louise Herrington Patriot Center.  

Along with her 11 kills, Gholson added 21 digs to earn a double-double. 

MSU collected 16 total blocks with Honeycutt logging seven blocks and Eakin recording six blocks. 
 
UT Tyler claimed the first set 25-18. The Patriots broke an early 1-1 tie with an 11-2 run to seize control.  

MSU Texas rebounded to win the next two sets by 25-18 and 25-23 scores. MSU hit .209 in the second set and .208 in the third set.
 
After UT Tyler evened the match at 2-2 with a 25-23 win in the fourth set, the Mustangs clinched the win with a 15-12 victory in the fifth set. Trailing 9-8, MSU rattled off three straight points to take a lead they would not relinquish.
