ROME, Ga. - Angel Palacios went 1-1 in consolation round play on Friday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College on the second day of competition at the 2019 ITA Cup.
The Midwestern State senior opened the day with a grueling 4-6, 7-6 (5), 6-3 victory over Manuel Pilotto of Southeastern Oklahoma State.
"He kept his composure when it mattered most," MSU Texas coach
Scott Linn said.
Just over an hour after defeating Pilotto, Palacios stepped back onto the court and suffered a 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 loss to Daniel Belsito of Wingate.
"The best match he played was that last one," Linn said. "He battled all day long and I look forward to watching Angel continue to grow as a leader."
Palacios ends his run at the 2019 ITA Cup at 1-2.
