WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Kelly Cannistra tallied two goals to lead Midwestern State (3-8-1, 2-5) to a 3-1 win over the visiting Oklahoma Christian Eagles (1-11, 1-6) on Thursday night in a Lone Star Conference game at Stang Park.
"The girls worked hard and played well out of the gate," MSU coach
Ryan Spence said.
Nicole Marsolek opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing an
Avery Lewis cross with a right foot blast from inside the 18.
Just over three minutes later, Cannistra made it 2-0 in favor of MSU with her first goal of the night.
The Eagles cut into the deficit with a 21
st minute tally from Natalie Thomas that capped off the first half scoring.
Still leading 2-1 in the 55th minute, Cannistra scored off a
Sara Machado through ball to give the Mustangs a two-goal advantage.
Midwestern State has won two straight games for the first time all season.
"This winning streak is something we can hopefully ride into next week," Spence said.
