Slide continues for @MWSUVball as Mustangs fall to TWU, 3-0

THE RUNDOWN
DENTON, Texas – Junior Sarah Eakin produced a season-high eight kills in Midwestern State's 3-0 loss to Texas Woman's on Friday evening at Kitty Magee Arena.

MSU Texas falls to 2-11 overall and 0-5 in Lone Star Conference play.

Eakin played perhaps her most complete match of the season. The Wichita Falls native hit .400 while committing just two errors with two blocks and 9.5 points.

Defensively freshman Samantha Manio and sophomore Jaycie Fuller eclipsed double-digit digs at 10 and 11, respectively. Friday marked the first time this season Manio has reached double digits.

Redshirt sophomore Sarah Glawe led the Mustangs with 19 assists, but MSU Texas hit just .029 as a team.

Five different players recorded at least five kills for the Pioneers in a balanced offensive approach, led by Courtney Noel and Isabel Vega with nine.

With the Mustangs leading 3-0 early in the first set, the Pioneers took complete control with a 17-3 run to capture the momentum.

A 7-1 start in the second set was too much to overcome as the teams played about even for the remainder of the set.

Much like the first two frames, a 10-2 run by the Pioneers after the teams were tied at six allowed TWU to put the match on ice.
