Lewis ends drought, but @MSUWSOC falls to ASU

THE RUNDOWN
SAN ANGELO, Texas – Junior Avery Lewis snapped Midwestern State's scoring drought in the 16th minute, but a second half goal by Angelo State proved to be the difference maker in a 2-1 loss.

Midwestern State falls to 1-4-1 overall and 0-1-0 in Lone Star Conference play.

Lewis broke the scoring seal in the 16th-minute snapping a stretch of 230:52 of game action without a goal for the Mustangs. Lewis beat Rambelle's keeper Kira Miller for her second goal of the season.

The Rambelles wasted no time in pulling back to even. Just 3:11 later, Trenadey Scott scored off an assist from Avery McNeme.

After going into the intermission with a one-all draw, ASU came out firing in the second half, scoring in the first seven minutes of play to take the lead. McNeme found Cassandra Moosburger in the box, who then beat keeper Samantha Upton for the eventual game winner for ASU.

The Mustangs had several opportunities down the stretch. In the final 10 minutes, MSU Texas got two shots from freshman Emma Baley. With two minutes to go, the Mustangs were unable to create magic on a corner kick.

Upton made five saves in the setback and faced 12 shots.
