THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Junior
Gui Leme has wasted no time in leaving a mark on the top-ranked Midwestern State program. The Sao Paulo native scored his third goal in as many matches with a pair of goals in Saturday night's 3-1 win over Newman at Stang Park.

The Mustangs improved to 25-0-3 over the last 28 matches, dating back to the 2016 season and a perfect 5-0-0 in 2018.

Leading 1-0 in the 28
th-minute, the Jets were called for a handball in the box, giving Leme a penalty kick. NU keeper Chase Bowman guessed left and made the save. After the Mustangs quickly regained possession, Leme collected his own rebound off a deflection and fired from eight yards out in front of the left post, this time blasting the ball past Bowman for the 2-0 edge.

Late in the match, Leme helped MSU Texas put the contest away. In the 79
th-minute, Leme received a 40 yard pass from
Julian Barajas in the box on a breakaway opportunity and quickly put the ball away to stretch the advantage to 3-1.

Juan Ramirez got the scoring started early in the match, scoring in the team's first goal in the 13
th-minute to stake the Mustangs to a 1-0 advantage.

Ed Jabbari cracked the score column for the Jets, scoring a goal off deflection in the 37
th-minute to cut the score to 2-1.

Redshirt sophomore
Taylor Lampe made a pair of second half saves as the back line of the Maroon and Gold allowed just three shots on target in the match.
