EDMOND, Okla. -- Central Oklahoma dominated the run of play on the way to a 2-0 win over Midwestern State Tuesday night at Wantland Stadium.
The Bronchos improved to 4-0 on the season, while sending MSU Texas to its second straight loss as the Mustangs dropped to 1-2-1.
UCO sophomore midfielder Kelsie Eason buried the opener off of a free kick from 20 yards out in the 26th minute for the only score of the first half.
Midwestern State managed just two shots in the first half produced by sophomore
Tatum Sharp and senior
Taylor Robinson, but managed to stay in the match until deep in the second half despite getting outshot 13-2.
Central Oklahoma, who also held a 12-2 edge on corner kicks, put the game away earning a penalty kick in the 84th minute. Senior striker Katie Killion buried it for her third tally of the season to push the Broncho edge to two goals.
MATCH NOTES
- Midwestern State has managed four total shots and one shot on goal over the last 135 minutes of play.
- Both of the Mustangs' shots against Central Oklahoma occurred in a 5-minute stretch after Eason's opener.
Tatum Sharp's shot was wide in the 26th minute, while
Taylor Robinson's offering was hight in the 31st minute.
- It was the first meeting between the two former Lone Star Conference foes since Midwestern State claimed a 3-1 win in the 2013 Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament semifinals.
- Central Oklahoma owns a 16-6 edge in the overall series and won its 11th consecutive match against the Mustangs played in Edmond. MSU Texas' lone win over the Bronchos was a 4-3 result on Oct. 18, 1998. UCO owns an 11-1 mark at home against the Mustangs.
