DURANGO, Colo. -- Midwestern State's Emily Brennan needs one solid round to punch her ticket to the NCAA Division II Championships.

The freshman from Stoke-on-Trent, England carded a pair of birdies on her way to a 6-over 78 in the second round at the par-72, 6,348-yard Hillcrest Golf Course.

The score isn't usually impressive for the No. 19-ranked player in NCAA Division II as Brennan sports a season stroke average of 74.45, but the average score on the Hillcrest course stood at 79.9 and 78.8 over the opening two rounds of the tournament.

Brennan's 36-hole, 8-over total of 152 has her tied foro seventh on the individual leader board five strokes behind tournament leader Jocelyn Chee Yi Min of California Baptist (73-74 147/+3).

The top three finishing teams and the first three individual not on the advancing teams move to nationals set for May 16-19 at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston.
MSU improved from an opening round 317 to fired a total of 315 in the second round to tie sixth with a 36-hole, 56-over tally of 632. The Mustangs stand behind Dallas Baptist (597/+21), California Baptist (609/+33), West Texas A&M (611/+35), Tarleton State (622/+46) and California State-San Marcos (625/+49).

Freshman Katie Reeves stood as the Mustangs' top performer in the second round carding a 5-over 77 followed by Brennan's 78 while frosh Juanita Gomez notched a 7-over 79.

Senior Sarah Moore and sophomore Lexi Read carded matching 8-over 80s.

Overall, Reeves is tied for 32nd with a 15-over total of 159, while Gomez is tied for 36th with a 16-over 160. Moore is tied for 43rd with an 18-over 162, while Read is knotted for 50th with a 20-over total of 164.

Midwestern State draws an 8:30 a.m. tee time for Wednesday's final round. The Mustangs are paired with Tarleton State and St. Edward's.
