MUSTANGS NOTES

FIRST SERVE: Fresh off a pair of 9-0 sweeps against McMurry and Hardin-Simmons last weekend in Abilene, 20th-ranked MSU Texas (5-2) returns to the confines of the MSU Tennis Center to take on Oklahoma Baptist (3-2). First serve against the Bison is set for 5 p.m. on Friday. After splitting the first two matches of the season, the Maroon and Gold have won four-of-five with the lone setback coming against 13th-ranked Southwest Baptist last Thursday. Following the contest with OBU, Midwestern State travels to Las Vegas where the Mustangs go head-to-head with four top-20 teams.

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Underclassmen have shouldered the load for Midwestern State through the early goings. Of the 30 singles wins, 25 have come from underclassmen and 15 have come from the freshman class of Alex Martinez Roca (6-1), Nolan McCaig (5-2) and Jean Muniz (5-1). Sophomore and reigning LSC Freshman of the Year Angel Palacios is tied with Martinez Roca for the team lead in singles wins with an identical 6-1 record.

LINEUP SHAKEDOWN: The No. 6 singles line has been the decisive point in all seven matches this season. The Mustangs are 5-0 when winning at No. 6 and 0-2 when the No. 6 flight takes a loss.
