LEADING OFF: Midwestern State travels to Silver City, N.M. for an all-Mustangs matchup with Western New Mexico (2-29, 0-15 LSC) on Thursday and Friday in a pair of doubleheaders. Midwestern State (11-14, 6-9 LSC) is coming off a rough outing against 15th-ranked West Texas A&M last weekend.

THOMAS PICKING UP STEAM: Senior catcher
Amanda Thomas found her rhythm in the finale against ENMU, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs and a double. In her last 17 games, the backstop is hitting at a .347 clip with 11 RBI, six runs and two taters. The Marble Falls product leads the team with five multi-RBI games, including three games with three RBI. Thomas went 1-for-3 against West Texas A&M last weekend before being sidelined with an illness.

LINDGREN LIGHTS UP LADY BUFFS: Sophomore outfielder
Lauren Lindgren caught fire against West Texas A&M, going 6-for-8 in the series with a double, two runs and two RBI. The Denton native went a perfect 4-for-4 in the series opener, including a two-run double in the bottom of the seventh.

EROPKIN HITTING ROPES: After being held hitless in the first two games of the season, sophomore outfielder
Kelsey Eropkin has been on a tear, hitting safely in 19 of the last 23 games. During that span, the Tulsa transfer is hitting .300 with 14 runs, four doubles, four homers and six RBI.

ENTER SANDMAN: Junior pitcher
Abbie Lancaster broke the Mustangs single-season save record, earning her fifth save of the season in the series opener against Cameron. The Lone Star Conference leader has stranded 14-of-20 inherited runners this season. The Idabell, Okla., native is holding opponents to a .232 average with 37 strikeouts in 58.1 innings of work.

RETURN TO THE LAND OF ENCHANTMENT: Western New Mexico enters the four-game series with a 2-29 overall record. The Mustangs hit .275 as a team, led by middle infielder Alicia Habitzreuther with a .337 average, three home runs and 17 RBI. Offensively, the Mustangs hit .275 as a club with 13 long balls on the year. In the circle, WNMU owns an 8.68 ERA and allows a .421 average to the opposition. Sophomore Lyana Waddell leads the squad with a 2-13 record and a 6.97 ERA over 82.1 innings of work.
