FIRST SERVE: No. 16-ranked Midwestern State continues its five-state road trip with a busy weekend on the highway. Midwestern State heads to Austin on Thursday to battle St. Edward's (14-8) before journeying to Arkansas-Fort Smith (6-6) on Friday. The Mustangs close out the 1,111 mile round-trip in Durant, Okla., for a matchup with No. 31-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State (5-5) on Saturday. First serve in Thursday and Friday's match is slated for noon while Saturday's match starts at 1 p.m.

NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Underclassmen have shouldered the load for Midwestern State in the 2018 season. Of the 60 singles wins, 46 have come from underclassmen and 27 have come from the freshman class of
Alex Martinez Roca (10-3),
Nolan McCaig (9-4) and
Jean Muniz (8-3). The trio of freshmen are a combined 9-0 in singles in the last three matches.

CALLING ALL ANGELS: Sophomore and reigning LSC Freshman of the Year
Angel Palacios has been dominant for the Mustangs this season, garnering a No. 44 singles ranking. The Piedras Negras native boasts a 14-1 record, including a perfect 11-0 at the No. 3 line and has won 13-straight, matching the second-longest winning streak in program history, behind only Michael Turner's 16-straight in 1999. His lone setback came against DI UT-Arlington on Feb. 10 at the No. 2 flight. During his winning streak, Palacios has been stretched to three-sets twice.

WINNING THE CLOSE ONES: Senior
Vasudev Vijayaraman came in at No. 28 in this week's Oracle/ITA Singles rankings with a 9-6 record at the No. 1 flight. The Chennai, India, native owns a pair of wins against regionally ranked opponents and has a 4-2 record in three-set matches this season. Vijayaraman leads the team with four three-set wins and three tiebreaker victories.

DOUBLE DOWN: The Mustangs have been dominant in doubles all season. Of the 15 matches played, MSU has picked up at least two wins in 13 matches, including sweeping the doubles competition on five occasions. The tandem of senior
