MUSTANGS NOTES
 
FIRST SERVE: No. 19-ranked Midwestern State heads to Pueblo, Colo., for a trio of South Central Region matchups with No. 45 Colorado State-Pueblo (9-11) and Colorado Mesa (5-14) on Friday before closing out play against No. 31-ranked Metro State-Denver (8-6) on Saturday. All three matches are held at Pueblo City Park Tennis Complex.
 
NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Underclassmen have shouldered the load for Midwestern State through the early goings. Of the 44 singles wins, 34 have come from underclassmen and 18 have come from the freshman class of Alex Martinez Roca (7-3), Nolan McCaig (6-4) and Jean Muniz (5-3).
 
CALLING ALL ANGELS: Sophomore and reigning LSC Freshman of the Year Angel Palacios has been dominant for the Mustangs this season, garnering a No. 26 singles ranking. The Piedras Negras native boasts an 11-1 record, including a perfect 8-0 at the No. 3 line and has won 10-straight. His lone setback came against DI UT-Arlington on Feb. 10 at the No. 2 flight. During his winning streak, Palacios has lost just one set.
 
VIJAYARAMAN COMING UP CLUTCH: Senior Vasudev Vijayaraman debuted at No. 28 in singles with a 7-5 record at the No. 1 flight. The Chennai, India, native owns a pair of wins against regionally ranked opponents and has a 4-2 record in three-set matches this season. Vijayaraman is the sixth-highest ranked singles player in the South Central Region.
