ABILENE, Texas – The 12th-ranked MSU Texas women's tennis team closed out its exhibition schedule with a friendly against Abilene Christian on Friday at the Teague Events Center in Abilene. Midwestern State lost the match to the Wildcats, 7-0.
 
The Mustangs were swept in doubles to fall behind 1-0. MSU's No. 2 team of Greta Lazzarotto and Ashley Ramirez fell 6-0 before the Maroon and Gold's tandem of Anna Claire Gerletti and Emilija Segetlija dropped a 6-1 decision to Ileana Mocciola and Autumn Crossnoe at No. 3. At the No. 1 line, ACU's Whitney Williams and Sarah Adams bested Maddy Coffman and Bianca Duff, 6-1, to complete the sweep.
 
MSU claimed a pair of first set wins in singles but was unable to swing the momentum. Pothier defeated Duff in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 2 and Crossnoe knocked off Ramirez, 6-2, 6-4, at No. 3 to put ACU ahead 3-0. Despite claiming the first set, Coffman's momentum was halted, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0, by Williams at No. 1 to clinch the match for the Wildcats.
 
ACU closed out the match with wins by Memishishi and Mocciola at the No. 5 and 6 spots over Gerletti and Segetlija, respectively. Lazzarotto took Adams to the limit, claiming a first set tiebreaker. After dropping the second set, Lazzarotto came up just shy in the third, slipping up 10-8 at No. 4.
