CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M's Lexy Hightower scored a career-high 29 to lead the fifth-ranked Lady Buffs to a 73-59 win over Midwestern State on Saturday at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
WT entered the contest as the second-best shooting team in the nation and proved its mettle going 23-of-47 (48.9) percent from the floor.
Hightower powered the Lady Buffs from long range, hitting five of the team's six 3-pointers, with the junior going 5-of-10 from distance. The Canyon native went 8-of-17 (47.1 percent) from the floor and added eight points from the charity stripe.
MSU Texas falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in Lone Star Conference play following the setback.

Mica Schneider led the Mustangs with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting, going 2-of-3 from 3-point land, with four rebounds and three assists.

Erin Alexander pulled down five rebounds to lead the Maroon and Gold.
Tyesha Taylor added 17 points and nine rebounds for the Lady Buffs to pace WT on the interior.
