WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State tipped off the 2018-19 season in dominant fashion on Monday, cruising to a 91-63 victory over Wiley at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
The Mustangs rolled up 22 assists on 33 made field goals, led by
Kityana Diaz,
Chelcie Kizart and
Mica Schneider with four each.
Hannah Reynolds paced the Mustangs' offense, scoring 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting while pulling down six rebounds and recording a pair of blocks.
Kizart had a strong all-around performance. The St. Paul, Minn., product scored 18 points with seven boards and four steals to go along with four dimes and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line.
Schneider and Diaz each flirted with double-doubles. Schneider scored 14 points and grabbed nine boards while Diaz added seven points and 10 rebounds.
Erin Alexander and
Anni Scholl tacked on nine points apiece. Alexander collected six boards, including five on the offensive end.
The Mustangs converted 24 offensive rebounds into 26 second chance points and held the Wildcats to 29 percent shooting.
Armonie Lomax led the Wiley offense with 17 points while Grace Wellman added a game-high 15 rebounds.
