Strong shooting night lifts Wiley to win over @MWSU_MBB in exhibition

THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State saw 11 players get first-time experience at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in a 78-64 exhibition loss to Wiley on Monday evening.

The Wildcats shot 49.2 percent from the floor and 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. Guard Josh Hamilton led all players with 22 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Taylan Grogan added 16 for Wiley and Lord Akah tacked on 10 more off the bench.

Junior forward Gilbert Thomas, Jr., recorded a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds for MSU Texas. Junior forward Bishop Coulter added 12 points and five rebounds.

An ice cold shooting night from beyond the arc hindered the Mustangs attack. MSU Texas shot just 5-of-28 (17.9 percent) from 3-point land.

The Wildcats led by as many as 26 in the second half before a late run by the Maroon and Gold trimmed the deficit. MSU closed the game on a 15-4 run over the final 6:16 to pull within 14.
