THE OPPONENT: Eastern New Mexico is 0-4 against NCAA Division II competition falling to Fort Lewis (82-74) and New Mexico Highlands (87-76) in the New Mexico Classic in Albuquerque (11/9 and 11/10); to St. Edward's (85-68) in Angelo State's Ed Messbarger Tip-off Classic (11/16) and at Washburn (94-56) (11/24)… The 'Hounds played consecutive exhibition games at UTEP (L, 66-59 on 11/19) and New Mexico State (92-65 on 11/21)… ENMU's lone win came against Jarvis Christian (88-60) in the Messbarger Tip-off Classic (11/17)… Senior guard Zach Parker leads ENMU in scoring at 12.6 points per game scoring in double figures in four of five games… Senior forward Chukuka Emili averages 11.6 points and ranks second in the Lone Star Conference with 9.6 rebounds per game… Emili posted double-doubles against New Mexico Highlands (11 points, 11 rebounds) and St. Edward's (10 points, 11 rebounds) after going for 21 points and nine rebounds in the season opener against Fort Lewis… Eastern New Mexico was picked seventh in the 2018-19 Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll… Tres Segler is in his third season at the helm at ENMU posting a 25-36 mark (.410)… Segler served seven seasons as an assistant at Midwestern State under Grant McCasland (2009-11) and Nelson Haggerty (2011-16) helping the Mustangs to three Elite Eight appearances, seven NCAA D2 tournament appearances and five Lone Star Conference titles…

THE OPPONENT: West Texas A&M is ranked No. 8 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' D2 Poll and is seventh in the D2SIDA Media Poll… The Buffs ride a five-game winning streak into Thursday's Lone Star Conference opener against Cameron… West Texas A&M leads NCAA Division II in 3-point field goal attempts with 285 (31.6 per game) and are third with 90 3-pointers made (10 per game)… Senior Ryan Quaid paces the Buffs scoring 14.3 points and ranks second in the LSC pulling down 8.6 rebounds per game… Quaid has two double-doubles with matching 17-point, 18-rebound efforts against Drury and Western Colorado… Quaid boasts three 20-point performances this season including a season-high 23 at Adams State… Freshman Joel Murray (11.7 ppg) scored in double figures in six of his first nine games including high of 20 points against Lubbock Christian… Freshman Qua Grant (10.9 ppg) has posted double digits five times including a high of 23 at Adams State… Senior Gach Gach launched the second most 3-point attempts in NCAA Division II connected on 19-of-69 shots… Gach has taken at least seven attempts from beyond in nine games… West Texas A&M was picked second in the LSC Preseason Poll… The Buffs posted a 32-4 record in 2017-18 advancing to the NCAA Division II semifinals…Tom Brown has posted a 104-36 record (.743) in his fifth season at the helm at West Texas A&M…
 
LAST WEEK: Midwestern State took three losses in a weeklong visit to Fort Smith, Ark. The Mustangs fell to Arkansas-Fort Smith (77-66) on Wednesday night before falling to No. 5 Southern Nazarene (77-72) and Ouachita Baptist (82-73) in the UAFS Thanksgiving Classic. The Mustangs held second-half leads in each game and are the only team to play Southern Nazarene within 10 points this season.
 
HAGGERTY IN HIS EIGHTH CAMPAIGN: Midwestern State boasts a 149-72 mark (.674) in Nelson Haggerty's eighth season as head coach. He has led the Mustangs to the NCAA postseason in five of his seven seasons including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2012 and four LSC championships in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016. Haggerty claimed his second LSC Coach of the Year award in 2016 sharing honors with former Cameron coach Nate Gamet. He also claimed the honor in 2012.
 
HITTING THE GLASS: Midwestern State ranks fifth in the Lone Star Conference with a +4.7 rebounding margin, but have out-boarded three of their seven opponents by at least 10. The Mustangs have been out-rebounded one this season – by 8 to Ouachita Baptist. MSU Texas chase down 12.1 offensive rebounds per game – fourth in the LSC.
 
KING COULTER GARNERS HONORS: Junior forward Bishop Coulter Al Kaly Shrine Classic MVP honors and later Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week (on Nov. 20th) accolades averaging 17 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games at the classic. The Atoka, Okla. Native knocked down 10-of-14 shots for a season-high 21 points to go with seven rebounds in a 92-66 rout of Colorado State-Pueblo. He scored 13 points and snagged six rebounds in the Mustangs' 75-71 victory over Adams State. Coulter narrowly missed his first double-double of the season going for 11 points and nine rebounds Wednesday against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
 
COULTER NARROWLY MISSES DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Junior forward Bishop Coulter delivered his fifth double-figure effort of the season going for 19 points and seven rebounds Saturday against Ouachita Baptist. Coulter narrowly missed his first double-double of the season on Wednesday finishing with 11 points and nine rebounds against Arkansas-Fort Smith.
 
WALLACE CLEANS GLASS FOR LSC DEFENSIVE HONOR: Junior guard Josh Wallace flashed all-around game to take home his first Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week award on Nov. 20th. The Queens, N.Y. native averaged six points, seven rebounds and five assists a game wins over Colorado State-Pueblo and Adams State last weekend at the Al Kaly Shrine Classic. Wallace followed the stellar act by going for eight points, nine rebounds and four assist Wednesday at Arkansas-Fort Smith before notching his third game with at least 10 points going for 12 points and three rebounds against Southern Nazarene after a near-double-double with eight points and nine rebounds versus Arkansas-Fort Smith.
 
TRIPLE TRAE: Redshirt-freshman Trae Jones connected on a career-high four 3-pointers to match a season-high with 14 points Saturday against Ouachita Baptist. Jones ranks fifth in the LSC knocking down 2.3 triples per game. Jones connected on at least three 3-poiners in four of seven games this season.
 
REBOUNDING FORCE: Junior forward Gilbert Thomas, Jr. racked up a season-high 15 rebounds against Southern Nazarene. It was Thomas' third 10-board effort of the season finishing the week's play at 9.0 rebounds per game. Thomas ranks fourth in the Lone Star Conference with 8.1 rebounds per game.
 
STARK REALITY: Senior guard JaJuan Starks led the Mustangs averaging 14 points on 53-percent shooting (16-of-30) with four three pointers last week in the UAFS Thanksgiving Classic. Starks paced the team in scoring off of the bench with 16 points and eight rebounds against Arkansas-Fort Smith then had 20 points and five rebounds versus No. 5-ranked Southern Nazarene.
 
HARRIS FINDS RANGE: Junior guard D'monta Harris drilled three 3-pointers to finish with 11 points against Ouachita Baptist.
 
LEE CREATING BUCKETS: Junior guard Elijah Lee averaged 10.7 points and 6.7 assists in 30.7 minutes per game last week. Lee dished out eight assists against Arkansas-Fort Smith, five against Southern Nazarene and seven versus Ouachita Baptist.
 
SCORING EFFICIENTLY: Junior forward Dorian Chatman went 7-for-9 from the field to finish with a season-high 15 points Friday night against No. 5 Southern Nazarene. The 6-7 forward is shooting 64.3 percent from the field (18-of-28) to average 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds.
 
FRESHMAN BREAKTHROUGH: Freshman guard Terrell Wilson connected on 4-of-8 shots for a career-high eight points in 19 minutes Friday against Southern Nazarene.
