EDMOND, Okla. – Fourth ranked Midwestern State matched Tampa for the fifth-longest unbeaten streak in NCAA DII history with a 4-1 rout of Oklahoma Christian on Saturday afternoon in Edmond, Okla.
After falling behind 1-0 in the seventh minute, MSU Texas hung four goals on the Eagles.
Carlos Flores chipped a deep pass over the defense, finding
Ross Fitzpatrick in front of the goal for the equalizer in the 40th minute.
The Mustangs dominated every aspect of the first half, outshooting the Eagles, 13-2 and taking six corner kicks while holding OCU without a set piece prior to the intermission.
After the break, MSU Texas struck for three goals in a 10-minute span. Junior
Rory O'Keeffe hit his third game winner in the last four matches, converting his third penalty kick in as many tries.
Connor Cesar had a hand in each of the Maroon and Gold's final two goals, heading the ball home off an assist from
Dylan Burke before finding
Juan Ramirez with a cross just 46 seconds later to finalize the scoring line.
Sophomore keeper
Taylor Lampe made three saves as the Mustangs fired 27 shots.
