O’Keeffe’s overtime PK caps improbable comeback for @msutxfc

THE RUNDOWN
AUSTIN, Texas – Junior Rory O'Keeffe buried a penalty kick in the 99th minute as No. 4 Midwestern State overcame a 2-0 second half deficit to top St. Edward's, 3-2, in overtime. The Mustangs run their unbeaten streak to 33-straight matches, tying Fort Lewis for the seventh longest streak in NCAA DII history.

With just under two minutes to play in the first overtime period, the Hilltoppers were called for a foul in the penalty box. Calm and collected, the Irishman drilled his second penalty kick in a week to cement the Mustangs 3-2 win.

St. Edward's scored two goals in a six minute stretch in the second half to claim a 2-0 lead on goals from George Murray and Dylan Armstrong, but a resilient effort let the Maroon and Gold chip away

Junior Erwin Regules put the Mustangs on the board to cut the score in half as he gave a stutter-step to get past SEU kepper William Tuffin in the 74th minute. Just five minutes later, junior Sergio Lara caught Tuffin too far from the post, chipping the ball past him on a breakaway to tie the match.

Sophomore keeper Taylor Lampe earned his 19th career victory, passing Shawn Carr for the sixth most wins in program history. The Mansfield native made one save as the back line limited the Hilltoppers to a meager three shots on goal.
