@MSUWSoc shutout on the road at Texas A&M-Commerce

THE RUNDOWN
ROCKWALL, Texas – Texas A&M-Commerce handed Midwestern State its sixth-straight loss in a 1-0 decision on Friday at Rockwall High School. The Mustangs drop to 0-8-1 in the last nine contests.
 
With the 3-0 loss by UT Permian Basin at Eastern New Mexico tonight, MSU Texas can clinch a berth in the Lone Star Conference Postseason Tournament with a win or a UTPB loss on Sunday. The Mustangs travel to Texas Woman's while the Falcons go to West Texas A&M.
 
A&M-C scored the game's only goal on a set piece early in the second half. Karissa Rulander lifted a corner kick into the box. Michelle Kotlik headed the ball from the right side, beating keeper Samantha Upton to stake the Lions a 1-0 advantage.
 
Freshman Senna Garcia put the Mustangs final shot on target in the 71st minute, but Lions keeper Caitlin Duty collected the attempt.
 
Garcia took a corner kick in the 83rd minute in what would be MSU Texas' final scoring opportunity.
 
Duty made three saves to earn the win for the Lions.

- Midwestern State falls to 2-12-2 overall and 1-9-1 in Lone Star Conference play after a 1-0 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce
- MSU Texas controls its own destiny in regards to the LSC Postseason Tournament and clinch the No. 6 seed with a win over Texas Woman's on Sunday
- The 12 losses by the Mustangs are the most losses in program history
- Friday marked the sixth-consecutive loss by the Maroon and Gold and ninth match without a win, going 0-8-1
- MSU Texas was held scoreless for the sixth time this season
- A&M-C held a 14-7 edge in shots including a 6-4 advantage in shots on goal and a 6-3 lead in corners
- Freshman Senna Garcia led the team with three shots, putting two on frame
- Freshman keeper Samantha Upton made five saves
