@MWSUVball starts hot in 3-1 loss to Texas Woman’s

THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, TexasErin Richburg, Raven Presley and Lauren Honeycutt tallied double digit kills while Samantha Manio, Richburg and Cook logged double digit digs in a 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-13, 25-23) loss to Texas Woman's.
 
Richburg recorded her sixth double-double of the season, pacing the Midwestern State offense with 15 kills on 47 swings, hitting .234 and adding 14 digs and an ace.
 
Presley tacked on 12 kills in the home finale, marking the seventh time this season the Richardson native broke double figures.
 
Honeycutt matched her second most kills of the season with 10 and bested her personal dig mark with five against the Pioneers.
 
Manio led MSU Texas with 18 digs, going for double figures for the 10th time in her last 12 matches.
 
Cook scored a pair of aces to go along with 11 digs, the second most this season. The Bowie native added two kills and an assist.
 
The Mustangs got off to a 1-0 lead in the match on a quick start. Up 11-10, MSU Texas mounted a 10-2 run on Cook's aces and a pair of kills each from Richburg and Honeycutt. TWU pulled within one on a run of its own after fighting off five-straight set points. Presley put down a kill following a timeout to clinch the early edge.
 
An 8-1 run midway through the second set allowed the Pioneers to pull the match even at one before an 8-0 run to start the third gave TWU a 2-1 lead.
 
The fourth and final set featured 17 ties and 18 lead changes as the Maroon and Gold were unable to force a fifth. Neither side was able to build more than a three-point advantage while kills on three of the final four points clinched the match for the Pioneers.
 
TWU's Taylor Frederick hit .441 and led TWU with 17 kills while Kate Ranes logged a double-double with 48 assists and 20 digs.

- Midwestern State won the first set, but went cold in a 3-1 loss to Texas Woman's to conclude the 2018 home slate
- The Mustangs fall to 5-19 on the season and 3-13 in Lone Star Conference play
- Junior Erin Richburg recorded her sixth double-double of the season on 15 kills and 14 digs
- Sophomore Raven Presley tacked on 12 kills, marking the seventh time this season she broke double figures
- Freshman Lauren Honeycutt matched her second most kills of the season with 10
- Freshman Samantha Manio, Richburg and Addy Cook all logged double-digit digs
