Alberto Diaz wrapped up play at the ITA Cup on Saturday with an eighth place finish. The pair was the first doubles team from Midwestern State to advance to the ITA Cup since Vjekoslav Stipanic and Bo Ziputovic placed seventh in 2009.
In today's action at the Rome Tennis Center, Diaz and Westwick dropped a hearbreaking 6-4, 0-6, 10-7 decision to Eymric Chevalier and Michele Fenoaltea of Concordia in the seventh place match.
Yesterday, Westwick and Diaz fell to Indianapolis' Matej Kostadinov and Dario Huber, 7-5, 7-5, to begin play in the consolation draw.
MSU Texas opened the tournament on Thursday, drawing Washburn's No. 2 seeded team of Ajelandro Valarezo Plaze and Paul Haase, 6-4, 6-3.
The Mustangs return to the courts in the spring for dual match season.
