Mustangs Take Then No. 21 WT to the Wire
Freshman keeper
Samantha Upton made a season-high 10 saves in the Mustangs 2-0 setback to WT two weeks ago. The Maroon and Gold had an early shot carom off the post in the 17th minute. WT's Hannah Kelley-Lusk scored the go-ahead goal in the 65 th minute before Khaline Jacob connected on a counter attack at the second half buzzer.
Long Way to Go and a Short Time to Get There
MSU Texas currently sits at sixth place in the Lone Star Conference standings with four points and a 1-4-1 record as the Maroon and Gold begin the second half of conference action. The Mustangs trail fifth-place Texas Woman's by four points. West Texas A&M leads the league with 19 points at 6-0-1.
Williams Gets Shutout in First Start
Sophomore
McKenna Williams made 11 saves and kept Texas Woman's off the scoreboard in her first career start. The Mustangs and Pioneers played a double overtime affair with neither side giving way. The Forney native opened the season with a 151-minute scoreless streak, making 18 saves before surrendering a goal.
No Learning Curve Required
Senna Garcia and
Emma Baley lead the team with three goals and three assists, respectively. The freshmen duo are the only players to have started all 11 contests for the Mustangs.
