WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Newcomer Ben Westwick joins the Midwestern State tennis program for the 2018-19 season from Memorial Senior High School in Houston.

"We're very excited to get one of the best players in the state of Texas in Ben," MSU Head Coach Scott Linn said. "He's very strong both academically and on the court. I was really drawn to his commitment to individual excellence at such a young age. He's a very strong doubles player and a tremendous competitor with great size. His serve is a big weapon for him."

Westwick led MHS to a 2017 State 6A Championship and a pair of semifinalist finishes in 2015-16. With partner Anthony Huynh, Westwick advanced to the finals in doubles at the state tournament in 2017.

A three-star prospect according to Tennis Recruiting Network, Westwick is the 25th-ranked player in the state and holds an 18-10 record as an amateur in the junior circuit.

Westwick plans to major in Mechanical Engineering at MSU. He joins fellow signee, Quentin Scharfenberg in Linn's 2018-19 signing class.
