@MWSUVball suffers 3-0 home loss to Texas A&M-Commerce

THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Shelley Chapron's 13 kills and seven blocks paced Texas A&M-Commerce to a 3-0 sweep against Midwestern State Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.

Texas A&M-Commerce (8-7, 4-2 LSC) limited the Mustangs to a .114 hitting percentage while the Lions posted a .216 clip in the win.

Chapron totaled five kills in the opening set as the Lions used a 6-1 run down the stretch to earn a 25-17 first set victory after hitting .293 in the frame.

Following an Addison Semer kill that tied the second set at 15 apiece, the Lions put together a quick 5-1 spurt to take a 20-16 advantage. Midwestern State (8-7, 3-4 LSC) was unable to pull closer with Chapron ending the game with her seventh kill to give TAMUC a 2-0 lead with a 25-19 win.

The Mustangs came out of intermission with some intensity, jumping out to a 5-2 advantage to hold a lead for a majority of the set. However, the Lions rallied with a 4-0 run to erase a deficit and take a 19-18 lead following a Chapron kill. An ace by Savannah Rutledge gave the Lions match point, but back-to-back kills for Erin Richburg held off the sweep for a moment. Following a TAMUC timeout, the Lions ended the match with a kill from Mariyah Oliver in a 25-22 third set victory.
