SAN ANGELO, Texas – No. 2 Angelo State earned a series sweep over Midwestern State with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon at Mayer Field.
GAME 1 RECAP
Madison Greenwell went 3-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored to carry Angelo State to a 6-2 win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Angelo State (40-4, 17-3 LSC) scored six unanswered runs with a four-run second inning to erase a two-run deficit. A Greenwell triple to left center field propelled the Rambelles to a 3-2 lead with one out before an RBI bunt by Bailey Wallace capped off the second inning for ASU to grab a 4-2 advantage.
Angelo added to its lead with two runs in the fourth on a single by Courtney Barnhill for a 6-2 score.
Midwestern State (17-22, 8-15 LSC) went in front 2-0 in the top of the second.
Kelsey Knox led off the frame with a single before advancing to third on an error in the ASU outfield.
Carli Woolsey drew a walk before
Misty Muniz reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Knox to score on an error at third base. A sac fly by
Lauren Lindgren in foul territory allowed the Mustangs to plate their second run of the game.

GAME 2 RECAP
Brandley Marlett tossed six scoreless innings with nine strikeouts while Madison Greenwell added three hits to lead Angelo State to a series sweep of the Mustangs with a 3-1 victory in the series finale.
Angelo State (41-4, 18-3 LSC) struck for one run in the first, second and third innings with five of its eight hits coming in that span. A two-out RBI single for Taegan Kirk plated Greenwell who led off the game with a single for a 1-0 ASU lead. Greenwell added an RBI double in the second before a Kirk double and an RBI bunt for Danae Bina stretched the lead to 3-0 in the third.
Midwestern State (17-23, 8-16 LSC) avoided the shutout with
Kelsey Knox driving in
Taylor Mordecai with a single up the middle in the seventh.
