THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State closes out its 2017 home slate Thursday and Friday with a three-game Lone Star Conference series against Texas Woman's at Mustangs Park.

The series opens up Thursday at 6 p.m. before a Friday twin bill beginning at 1 p.m. Prior to Friday's doubleheader, the MSU softball program will honor seniors Erin Knox, Taylor Bermudes and Jennifer Quintero as they make their final appearances at Mustangs Park.

LAST TIME OUT
- Midwestern State suffered a series sweep to No. 2 Angelo State last weekend in San Angelo
- Lauren Lindgren led the Mustangs with a .500 batting average with four hits including two doubles 
 
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State enters its final weekend at home with a 17-23 overall record and 8-16 mark in the LSC for ninth in the conference standings
- Freshman center fielder Lauren Lindgren leads the Mustangs with a .351 batting average with a team-high 47 hits, 30 runs, 23 RBI, 11 stolen bases and six homers in all 40 starts this season
- Senior pitcher/first baseman Erin Knox is close behind with a .348 clip, adding 39 hits, 19 RBI, 18 runs, 18 walks and nine doubles to her stat line
- In the circle, Knox leads MSU with a 3.18 ERA, holding the opposition to a .250 batting average
- Knox and sophomore Peyton Helton have each totaled seven wins on the season with Helton recording a 3.75 ERA with 14 complete games in 18 starts on the year

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
- Texas Woman's comes in with a 24-15 overall record and 12-8 mark in the LSC to sit in fourth place in the league
- The Pioneers have won four of their last five games with a series sweep of Tarleton State and a doubleheader split against No. 3 St. Mary's (Texas) at home last week
- Senior center fielder Nicole Nordie ranks 13th nationally and first in the LSC with a .480 batting average, recording 60 hits, 32 runs, 32 RBI, 16 stolen bases and 10 doubles this season
- Freshman first baseman Hazel Puempel has also put together strong offensive numbers for the Pioneers with a .398 average on the season
- Senior shortstop Katy Stephens ties Nordie with 32 runs scored on the year while adding 42 hits and 25 RBI with a .365 hitting clip
- Junior right-handed pitcher Abby Walker carries a 13-6 record and 2.86 ERA to lead the Pioneers 
- Walker has totaled 91 strikeouts in 120 innings while holding batters to a .249 average at the plate
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Midwestern State leads the all-time series with Texas Woman's, 26-19
- The Pioneers have won six of the last seven matchups and have recorded 15 of their 19 wins in the series since 2011
- MSU is 9-3 against TWU at Mustangs Park, posting a series split against the Pioneers in the last meeting in Wichita Falls in 2015
 
UP NEXT
- Midwestern State wraps up the regular season against Tarleton State in a three-game series next Friday and Saturday at the TexAnn Softball Complex. The series gets underway Friday at 7 p.m. before a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
