WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Eastern New Mexico claimed its first-ever series win over Midwestern State Saturday afternoon with the Mustangs earning a 6-3 win in game two and the Greyhounds clinching the series with an 11-0 run rule in the finale at Mustangs Park.
GAME 1 RECAP
Lauren Lindgren and
Taylor Bermudes each belted out home runs while
Kelsey Knox recorded her first win of the season in the circle to lead Midwestern State to a 6-3 victory over Eastern New Mexico in game one of Saturday's doubleheader.
Lindgren led off with a double to left center field in the bottom of the first before
Erin Knox singled up the middle and advanced to second to put two runners on with no outs for Midwestern State (10-12, 3-5 LSC). With one out,
Kelcee Thompson delivered an RBI single through the left side for the first run of the game.
Taylor Mordecai added a run for the Mustangs in the next at bat with a double to right center while a single up the middle for
Kelsey Knox stretched the MSU lead to 3-0.
In the second, Lindgren blasted her fifth home run of the season with a solo shot to left field for a 4-0 Mustangs lead.
Eastern New Mexico (12-14, 5-3 LSC) pulled within a run in the third inning with three runs on four hits. A walk and back-to-back singles plated ENMU's first run of the game on a RBI single to left by Kamalani Peneku before a single down the left field line by Courtney Vigil drove in a pair for a 4-3 score.
The Mustangs distanced themselves in the sixth with a two-run home run by
Taylor Bermudes, her first of the season, for a final 6-3.

GAME 2 RECAP
Kaylee Rogers tossed a one-hitter while Eastern New Mexico scored in all five innings for an 11-0 run rule of Midwestern State to take the season series.
The Greyhounds struck early with Kylee Keller recording an RBI double to left center to score Cameron Conrad who led off the first with a walk for a 1-0 ENMU lead.
Eastern New Mexico (13-14, 6-3 LSC) extended its lead to 2-0 in the second on an RBI single up the middle by Ashley Lopez. The Greyhounds added a pair of runs in the third with Samantha Brockman driving in a run on a double to right center while Peneku capped off the inning with an RBI single to center for a 4-0 advantage.
Erikka Burke lifted the Greyhounds to a 6-0 lead in the fourth with a two-run shot to center field to plate Conrad after she recorded a one-out single.
The Greyhounds put the run rule into effect in the fifth, scoring five runs on seven hits with a Burke double scoring two of ENMU's runs in the frame.
