THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State makes its return to Mustangs Park this weekend for a three-game Lone Star Conference series against league newcomer Western New Mexico.

The two teams square off in a Friday doubleheader beginning at 5 p.m. before a series finale Saturday with first pitch at 11 a.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- Midwestern State suffered its third-straight road sweep last weekend against No. 12 West Texas A&M in Canyon
- The Lady Buffs scored three runs in the fourth inning of the opener to erase a 1-0 deficit and take a 3-1 victory
- WT claimed an 8-0 run rule of MSU in game two, scoring five runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win the series
- In the finale, the Mustangs put up eight runs in the fifth inning to grab an 8-3 lead before the Lady Buffs stormed back with six runs in the seventh to escape with a 9-8 win
 
A LOOK AT THE MUSTANGS
- Midwestern State comes in at 14-20 on the season with a 5-13 record in LSC action for ninth in the league
- The Mustangs are led by senior pitcher/first baseman Erin Knox with a .344 batting average with 33 hits, 15 RBI, 15 runs, 14 walks and eight doubles
- Freshman center fielder Lauren Lindgren has put together a strong first season for the Maroon and Gold with a team-high 38 hits and 27 runs while adding 18 RBI, 13 walks and five homers with a .333 average
- Sophomore right fielder Carli Woolsey adds a .311 clip to the Mustangs offense with 32 hits, 19 RBI, 12 runs and six home runs in 34 starts this season
- Knox leads the MSU pitching staff with a 3.40 ERA, holding opponents to a .244 average at the plate
- Sophomore Peyton Helton has totaled six wins in the circle to lead MSU while sporting a 3.82 ERA with 12 complete games in 16 starts and 106.1 innings
 
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
- Western New Mexico is 1-31 on the season with a 0-15 mark in LSC play, recording its only win of the season against NAIA Embry-Riddle (Ariz.) on Mar. 18
- Senior third baseman Lacy Granger is hitting a team-high .347 at the plate with 33 hits and 20 RBI
- Junior shortstop Mariangela Garcia is close behind with a .337 batting average with 32 hits, 14 runs scored and 12 RBI, leading WNMU with 12 walks and 10 doubles on the year
- Senior second baseman Linzy Granger is also batting over .300 with a .327 hitting clip with 32 hits and a team-best 23 runs
- Senior pitcher Domi Shone sports a 5.95 ERA to lead the Mustangs with 12 starts in 19 appearances for a team-high 82.1 innings of work
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
- Midwestern State carries an 8-1 lead in the all-time series against Western New Mexico, having won the last eight matchups
- The two teams met last year in the season opener with MSU coming away with an 11-8 victory at the Lady Chap Invitational in Lubbock
- Midwestern is 1-0 against WNMU at home with a 1-0 victory on Feb. 19, 2010
- WNMU earned its lone win in the series with a 3-2 victory at the NFCA/Schutt Sports Leadoff Classic in Irving on Mar. 7, 2004 during MSU's inaugural season
