WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State recorded a 6-3 victory over in-region rival Metro State (Colo.) in its return to the MSU Tennis Center Tuesday with the 15th-ranked Mustangs taking two of three doubles matches while earning four straight-set wins in singles play.

Dillon Pineda led Midwestern State (7-5) to its first point of the afternoon with an 8-6 victory over Josh Graetz and Joey Tscherne at No. 1 doubles. Sophomore

Angel Palacios followed with an 8-5 triumph on court two over Sam Stember and Keenan Kaltenbacher to extend the lead to 2-0.
Metro State (6-4) avoided the doubles sweep with Calum Hayes and Alejandro Martinez-Morilla defeating senior

Hall and Toyos carried the Mustangs to a 4-1 advantage after both recording straight-set wins to begin singles action. Hall took down Stember on court four with a 6-3, 6-0 victory while No. 5 Toyos claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win over Graetz at No. 1 singles.
The Roadrunners postponed a match-clinching win for the Mustangs as Tscherne posted a 7-5, 7-6 (5) victory over Palacios at No. 2 for a 4-2 match.
However, Norrie came through for MSU with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Kaltenbacher on court five to seal the victory for the Maroon and Gold.
The Roadrunners earned their second point of the evening at No. 3 singles with Martinez-Morilla pulling out a 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (5) decision over junior
Vasudev Vijayaraman.
Pineda closed out the match for the Mustangs with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Hayes at No. 6 for the 6-3 final.
Midwestern State travels to the Sooner state for a pair of matches Saturday against host Oklahoma Baptist and Newman (Kan.) at the OBU Tennis Courts in Shawnee, Okla. The Mustangs first square off against OBU at 10 a.m. before a 3 p.m. match against Newman.
