DURANT, Okla. – Sophomore
Peyton Helton threw a one-hitter against Texas A&M International to lead Midwestern State to its first win of the season while the Mustangs fell in their tournament finale to No. 20 Central Oklahoma to split the final day of the Southeastern Oklahoma Regional Invitational Sunday at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.
GAME 1 RECAP
Midwestern State pounded out a season-high 11 hits with three different Mustangs recording home runs during Helton's gem for a 9-1 run-rule victory in five innings over Texas A&M International Sunday afternoon.
Midwestern State (1-4) went in front in the top of the second with
Taylor Mordecai's solo shot putting MSU up 1-0 with one out. After a walk for
Kelsey Knox,
Lauren Lindgren blasted her second home run of the season to stretch the lead to 3-0.
The Mustangs put up six runs on seven hits in the fourth for a 9-0 advantage. An
Amanda Thomas single and Mordecai double started off the inning for the Mustangs before a single for
Hannah Springs plated Thomas for the first run of the frame. Mordecai came home to score on the next batter with a Knox single to left field extending the MSU lead to 5-0. An infield single for
Taylor Bermudes loaded the bases for the Mustangs before
Carli Woolsey blasted her team-leading fourth home run of the season with a shot to center field to cap off the inning.
Texas A&M International (2-4) got on the board in the bottom half of the fourth with the Dustdevils putting two on following a single and an error. A grounder to short scored Brenda Parnin for TAMIU's lone run of the game.

GAME 2 RECAP
No. 20 Central Oklahoma posted five extra-base hits en route to a three-run second inning and four-run sixth to defeat Midwestern State 8-0 in six innings Sunday evening.
A two-RBI double for Mo Selman scored the first two runs for Central Oklahoma (5-0) in the second inning before a sacrifice fly to left field for Morgan Heard capped off the frame for the Bronchos for a 3-0 advantage.
Heard added to the UCO lead in the fifth with a solo homer for a 4-0 lead for the Bronchos.
UCO belted out three doubles in the first four batters of the sixth inning to add two more runs with one out. An infield error by Midwestern State (1-5) stretched the lead to 7-0 before an RBI single for JoBi Heath plated Heard for a final 8-0.
