WICHITA FALLS, Texas – A header goal by senior midfielder 
Pierre Bocquet in the 40th minute proved to be the difference for fourth-ranked Midwestern State in a Heartland Conference battle for first place Thursday evening as the Mustangs blanked rival No. 16 St. Edward's, 1-0, at Stang Park.
 
Bocquet's sixth strike of the season was Midwestern State's (13-0-2, 9-0-2) first shot on goal of the night with 
Ross Fitzpatrick's corner kick finding Bocquet in the middle of the box for the 1-0 MSU advantage at the 39:12 mark.
 
With the win, the Mustangs increased their first-place lead on the Hilltoppers to four points with three games remaining in conference play.
 
St. Edward's (11-3-1, 8-2-1) matched the Mustangs with four shots on goal for the night with redshirt freshman keeper 
Taylor Lampe collecting three saves and senior 
Jordan Speed making a stop on Pablo Covarrubias' header in front of the net in the 63rd minute. Owain Hoskins placed three shots on goal for the Hilltoppers with two coming on frame in the final 10 minutes of the game.
 
Midwestern State outshot SEU 7-4 in the second period, not allowing the Hilltoppers to an attempt until Covarrubias' shot at the 62:29 mark.

- Midwestern State moved to 30-6-5 against St. Edward's in the all-time series, winning four of the last five matchups
