WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The 12th-ranked Midwestern State men's tennis team was unable to keep their perfect season intact Friday as the Mustangs dropped a 7-2 contest to Tyler Junior College at the MSU Tennis Center.

The 20th-ranked duo of Kyle Davidson and Ramon Toyos put Midwestern State (2-1) on the board in doubles play as the pair earned an 8-4 win at No. 1 over Enrique Pardo and Ferran Calvo. However, the Apaches (10-2), ranked No. 3 in the NJCAA, took a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play with a 9-7 win on court two and 8-3 victory at No. 3 doubles.

The Apaches stretched their lead early on in singles action with three straight-set wins to clinch the match before Calvo earned a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Davidson at No. 1. TJC added a super tiebreaker win at No. 5 with Jonah Candelario coming away with a 3-6, 6-3, 10-7 win over Benjamin Neander.

Midwestern State returns to action next Friday with a pair of matches in Odessa. The Mustangs face New Mexico Military Institute in a 9 a.m. neutral site contest before taking on host Texas-Permian Basin at 2 p.m. to close out the road trip.
