COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – No. 20 Midwestern State won the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead but NCAA Division I Air Force responded with four straight-set wins in singles play to earn a 4-1 victory over the Mustangs Saturday afternoon at the Air Force Academy Indoor Courts.

After a power outage delayed the start of the match for two hours, Midwestern State (9-4) claimed a 1-0 lead on the Falcons with a pair of doubles wins on courts two and three.

Senior Maddie Schorlemmer and freshman Greta Lazzarotto recorded their fourth-straight win at No. 3 with a 6-3 victory to improve to 11-2 on the season and give an early advantage to the visitors. After the Falcons earned a win at No. 1, senior Lauren Pineda and sophomore Amy Clifton clinched the doubles point for MSU on court two with a 6-4 triumph to move to an impressive 12-1 record for the year.

Air Force (9-7) countered with four wins in singles to deny Midwestern State its third-straight win. Chloe Forlini started the Falcons off with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1 over 27th-ranked Schorlemmer before Mary Meyers clinched the win for Air Force on court two with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Kontaki.

The Falcons also earned wins on courts three and four in the 4-1 victory.

Midwestern State returns to action Thursday at 3:30 p.m. when the Mustangs host NAIA Texas Wesleyan at the MSU Tennis Center.
