DENVER – No. 22 Midwestern State women's tennis snapped a two-match losing streak Tuesday afternoon with a dominant 8-1 win over in-region foe Metro State at the Regency Athletic Complex.
Midwestern State (8-3) began the match off strong, only allowing the Roadrunners to win four games in doubles play with an 8-0 sweep and a pair of 8-2 victories. At No. 2 doubles, senior 
Lauren Pineda and sophomore 
Amy Clifton notched their 10th victory of the season to sit at 10-1 on the year. 
The Mustangs quickly added a fourth point at No. 6 singles with a win by default before senior 
Lindsay Nochowicz clinched the match for MSU with a 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles over Kaitlyn Miller.
Pineda improved to a team-best 8-2 on the season in singles with a win at No. 3 before senior 
Maddie Schorlemmer and freshman 
Greta Lazzarotto added straight-set victories to push the lead to 8-0.
Metro State (4-12) earned its lone win of the match at No. 5 as Alex Horton downed 
Alexis Arrieta in a super tiebreaker victory, 1-6, 7-5, 12-10.
Midwestern State continues its Colorado road swing Friday with a 12:30 p.m. (CT) contest against Colorado State-Pueblo at the Pueblo City Park Tennis Complex.
