Taylor Mordecai lifted Midwestern State to a doubleheader sweep of Oklahoma Baptist Wednesday night in a 2-0 victory at Lady Bison Park.
Voigt put Midwestern State (18-16) in front for good in the second inning with a bomb to center field for her sixth home run of the season and a 1-0 lead for the Maroon and Gold. It was the second home run of the night for Voigt, also recording one in a 14-3 run-rule victory for the Mustangs in game one.
Mordecai added some cushion for the Midwestern in the seventh inning as she lifted a pitch over the center field fence for her fifth long ball of the year to make it a final 2-0.
Oklahoma Baptist (6-15) outhit the Mustangs, 6-4, but junior hurler
Erin Knox limited the Lady Bison to just one extra base hit while fanning four batters in a complete game effort to improve to 6-2 on the season. McKenzie Jones (2-7) was saddled with the loss for OBU despite a 10-strikeout performance.
Midwestern State returns home to Mustangs Park Friday and Saturday for a four-game series with rival Tarleton State. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. Friday while play gets underway Saturday at 2 p.m.
