MIDLAND, Texas – The 22nd-ranked Midwestern State women's tennis team extended their winning streak to four matches Friday evening as the Mustangs earned their second sweep of the day with a 9-0 victory over Texas-Permian Basin at the Bush Tennis Center.
Lauren Pineda continued her winning streak, now owning a combined record of 11-0 this season. Pineda earned a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles while teaming up with
Amy Clifton in doubles for an 8-1 win on court two to help Midwestern State (5-1) to the sweep. UTPB dropped to 0-9 on the season.
The Mustangs extended several winning streaks in doubles play with
Maddie Schorlemmer and
Greta Lazzarotto taking an 8-2 victory on court three for their third-straight win.
Lindsay Nochowicz and
Eirini Kontaki improved to 4-0 on the season at No. 1 doubles with an 8-5 win.
Kontaki clinched the match for the Mustangs at No. 2 singles, posting a 6-1, 6-3 victory. Lazzarotto came away with a 7-5, 6-1 win in her first appearance at the top of the lineup while
Lindsay Nochowicz,
Abby White and
Alexis Arrieta all pushed their winning streaks to three matches to complete the sweep.
Midwestern State returns to action Sunday at 2 p.m. when the Mustangs host in-region foe Colorado Mesa at the MSU Tennis Center.
