THE RUNDOWN
WICHITA FALLS, Texas – No. 12 Angelo State hit .378 to earn a 3-0 sweep over Midwestern State in a Friday evening matchup at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
Angelo State (15-2, 6-1 LSC) began the match on a 5-0 run to set the stage early as Midwestern State (8-9, 3-5 LSC) was only able to pull within four in the opening set before the Rambelles recorded a 25-15 win in set one.
The Mustangs overcame an early three-point deficit with kills from
Meghan Bettis and
Addison Semer to even the frame at 5-5 in set two. A 4-0 ASU run gave the Rambelles a 12-6 lead and forced an MSU timeout before pulling further ahead in the latter part of the set to earn a 25-14 win and take a 2-0 lead in the match.
Midwestern State went point-for-point with Angelo State in the first half of the third set, grabbing a 10-8 lead after a kill by
Sarah Garfield. A
Kiley Beaver kill sparked a 3-0 run for the Mustangs to take a 13-11 lead before the Rambelles put together a 10-0 run to take the momentum before posting a 25-15 win in set three for the sweep.
