THE RUNDOWN
LUBBOCK, Texas – A pair of second half goals for seniors Christian Okeke and Flavio Guzman propelled 18th-ranked Midwestern State to a 4-1 victory over Lubbock Christian Thursday afternoon at LCU Soccer Field.

After a scoreless first half that saw just two shots on goal between the two teams, Okeke gave Midwestern State (8-2-1, 6-1-0 HC) a 2-0 advantage with goals just 10 minutes apart off assists from Gabriel Cavalcante and Sebastian Venegas.

Lubbock Christian (2-8-1, 1-5-1 HC) cut its deficit in half with just under 10 minutes to play with an own goal to spoil a shutout for the Maroon and Gold, the third own goal allowed by the Mustangs this season.

However, Guzman stretched the Mustangs lead back out just two minutes later with a goal off Venegas' second assist in the 83rd minute for a 3-1 score.

Guzman added his second goal of the game with just 18 seconds remaining with a shot from the left side of the box after receiving a pass from Jacob Hernandez for a 4-1 final.
