THE RUNDOWN
PORTALES, N.M. – Midwestern State recorded its first 10-win season since 2013 following its third-straight shutout in a 2-0 victory over Eastern New Mexico Friday afternoon at Greyhound Stadium.
Midwestern State (10-5-2, 7-4-0) held the Greyhounds to just five shots with three on goal while earning goals from
Destinee Williamson and
Taylor Robinson in the victory.
In the 40th minute, Williamson received a throughball from
Hanna Mattinson before firing into the net from five yards out to break a scoreless contest with her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
The Mustangs stretched their lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute with Robinson netting her first career goal wearing the Maroon and Gold with a strike from four yards out off a pass from
Katie Huff.
Eastern New Mexico (3-13-1, 2-10-0 LSC) was limited to just a pair of shots down the stretch as the Mustangs swept the season series against the Greyhounds for the second-straight year.
