DENTON, Texas – A goal by Cara Zwilling with 16 seconds to play in regulation lifted Texas Woman's to a 1-0 victory over Midwestern State to split the season series with the Mustangs Sunday afternoon at TWU Soccer Field.
Despite controlling possession for a majority of the contest and outshooting the Pioneers, Midwestern State (7-5-2, 4-4-0 LSC) was able to push across the game-winning goal. The Mustangs held Texas Woman's (7-6-1, 3-5-0 LSC) to just a pair of shots for more than 65 minutes of play before Gaby Larson recorded TWU's first shot on goal in the 69th minute.
With time winding down, a cross by Rachel Peters into the middle of the box found Zwilling who sent a rocket into the back of the net to put the Pioneers in front.
Midwestern totaled three shots on target in the opening period and two late in the second half as five different Mustangs recorded shots on goal.
