WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Midwestern State was held to a season-low .069 hitting percentage in a 3-0 loss to Texas A&M-Kingsville Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
In the first set, Texas A&M-Kingsville (16-5, 7-3 LSC) used a 6-0 run to pull away from the Mustangs and take a comfortable 19-11 lead before a kill by
Kiley Beaver snapped the Javelinas spurt. The Javelinas grabbed a 24-12 advantage before Midwestern State (8-12, 3-7 LSC) reeled off eight-straight points to pull within four at 24-20. However, Krystal Faison prevented the Mustangs from coming any closer with a kill to give TAMUK the opening set at 25-20.
The Javelinas opened up a 9-4 lead in the second set before the Mustangs came back within two points at 10-8. A 7-2 TAMUK run in the middle of the frame gave the Javelinas a cushion before taking a 25-16 win in set two.
The Javelinas hit a match-best .267 in the third set, pulling away in the middle of the set with a 5-0 run to take a 19-11 lead. A kill by Lexi Wick completed the sweep for TAMUK with a 25-14 victory in the third frame.
