ON THE COURT
Midwestern State guns for its 10th straight win Saturday afternoon against Eastern New Mexico at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
 
FIVE THINGS TO KNOW
WINNING IS FUN...   Midwestern State can extend its winning streak to 10 games for the 20th time in program history and for the seventh time since the start of the 2009-10 season. It's the longest winning streak since the Mustangs claimed 11 straight wins from Jan. 25-March 7, 2014.
MUZZLING THE HOUNDS...   The Mustangs have won their last seven meetings against Eastern New Mexico and 16 of the last 17 dating back to the 2006-07 season. The average margin of victory is 17 points in those 16 wins and MSU won 12 of those by double figures.
DOME MAGIC...   Midwestern State is 54-7 (.885) under the dome in Nelson Haggerty's five season as head coach.  The Mustangs have won the last eight games against Eastern New Mexico at Ligon Coliseum with the Greyhounds' last victory coming by an 86-81 score on Jan. 25, 2007.
A 50/40 PROPOSITION...   Midwestern State has shot at least 50 percent from the field while holding the opposition under 40 percent in seven games this season.
ROAD DOGS...   Eastern New Mexico has played 11 of its 13 games this season away from Greyhound Arena. ENMU is 1-5 in true road games and 2-3 in neutral site contests.
 
SCOUTING THE GREYHOUNDS
- Eastern New Mexico dropped its Lone Star Conference opener to Cameron 90-79 Thursday afternoon at Greyhound Arena.
- The Greyhounds have lost three of their last four with the only victory coming against Wayland Baptist (Texas) during the stretch.
- Sophomore guard Ladarius Stewart scored in double figures in each of his last five games and is coming off of a season-best 20-point effort going 8-for-11 with three 3-pointers for 20 points Thursday against Cameron.
- Senior Lawrence Domingo notched double-figure points in the last five games averaging 14.8 points and nine rebounds a game over the stretch. The 6-5 forward has three double-double to his credit including an 18-point, 14-rebound effort against Wayland Baptist on New Year's Eve.
- Junior guard Javandon Staves averages 10.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game in 21.2 minutes off of the bench for the Greyhounds.
- Senior guard Chris Wyms scored 17 points and pulled down six rebounds with two 3-pointers while going 9-for-11 from the charity stripe in his season debut against Wayland Baptist on New Year's Eve.
- Stott Carter has posted an 11-30 record (.268) in his second season at the helm of the Eastern New Mexico men's basketball program.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
- Midwestern State and Eastern New Mexico meet for the 44th time on the hardwood Saturday afternoon at D.L. Ligon Coliseum.
- The Mustangs own a 28-15 edge in the series which dates back to the 1948-49 season.
- MSU has won the last seven meetings between the programs and 16 of the last 17 since the start of the 2006-07 season with the 'Hounds lone win during the stretch coming by an 80-72 count on Jan. 14, 2012 in Portales.
- The Mustangs have won the last eight meeting played between the squads at D.L. Ligon Coliseum dating back to ENMU's 86-81 victory on Jan. 25, 2007.
 
MUSTANGS NOTEBOOK
- Midwestern State extended its winning streak to nine games with a 74-65 victory at West Texas A&M in its Lone Star Conference opener Wednesday night at the First United Bank Center in Canyon.
- The Mustangs shot at least 50 percent from the field for the eighth time this season against West Texas A&M going 24-for-48 (50 percent).
- MSU fired its best percentage from the arc this season going 6-for-10 against WT. It was also the Mustangs fewest number of attempts from 3-point range.
- A player has come off of the bench to score at least 10 points in 12 of MSU's 13 games this season with the lone exception coming in a 91-60 win over Southwestern Assemblies of God (Texas) on Dec. 12 when Pat Smith and Matt Pollard scored eight points each.
- Senior forward Khapri Alston notched season highs with 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots Wednesday at West Texas A&M. It was Alston's sixth double-double of the season.
- Junior guard Sheldon Hagigal poured in a season-high 17 points off of the bench going 6-for-7 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers in 17 minutes off of the bench Wednesday at West Texas A&M.
- Senior guard Bretson McNeal scored 10 points -- all in the second half -- Wednesday at West Texas A&M. He matched a season high with six rebounds against the Buffs.
- Junior guard Pat Smith matched a season high with nine points on 3-of-3 shooting with a 3-pointer Wednesday at West Texas A&M.
 
MSU IN THE POLLS
- Midwestern State moved up three spots to No. 6 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches' Top 25 earlier this week. It's the Mustangs' highest NABC rating since reaching No. 6 for a two-week stretch in November of 2013.
- MSU slipped one spot to No. 2 in this week's D2 Media Poll. The Mustangs did pick up one more first-place vote and now have three. West Liberty (W. Va.) edged the Mustangs by just three points (310-307) despite picking up 10 first-place votes.

THE HAGGERTY ERA
- Nelson Haggerty is in his fifth season at the helm for Midwestern State as one of the top young coaches in college basketball.
- Haggerty boasts a 109-31 mark (.779) leading the Mustangs to the NCAA Division II postseason in each of his campaigns at the helm and to  Lone Star Conference championships in each of his first three seasons as head coach.
- Haggerty earned NABC South Central Region and Lone Star Conference coach of the year honors in his rookie season of 2011-12 piloting the Mustangs to their third consecutive Elite Eight showing.
- With Haggerty on the bench (including two seasons as top assistant), MSU has advanced to three Elite Eights (2010, 2011, 2012) and to the NCAA Division II postseason six consecutive years.
