FORT SMITH, Ark. -- Senior
Kacper Boborykin is quickly closing in on his 100 dual victory at Midwestern State.
The senior from Neunkirchen, Germany claimed his 97th and 98th victories Saturday leading the 14th-ranked Mustangs to a 9-0 win over Arkansas-Fort Smith at the Fort Smith Athletic Club.
Boborykin teamed with
Kyle Davidson to win his 42nd doubles' match for MSU 8-2 over Seth Laster and Grady McCain at the No. 2 spot before rolling to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Cristobal Ramirez at the No. 1 singles pot.
It was the 56th singles victory for Boborykin, who has posted a 30-12 mark at the top spot for the Mustangs over the past two seasons.
Sophomore
Ramon Toyos remained one of the hottest players in the region by taking his seventh consecutive decision 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles position to improve to 16-4 on the season.
Toyos and senior
Tomas Grejtak improved to 14-3 as a double's tandem this season by claiming an 8-4 win over Ramirez and Jesse Green at No. 1, while
Zack Santagate and
Chris Norrie beat Eric Manning and Ryan Heslop at the No. 3 position to move to 5-2 as a pairing.
Davidson defeated Green 6-2, 6-4 at the No. 2 singles position while Norrie beat J.T. Tasker 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4, freshman
Matt Tyer defeated Caleb Gunsch 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Grejtak routed Heslop 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.
Midwestern State, which claimed its fifth straight win to improve to 15-5, takes on rival Cameron on Monday, April 13 in Lawton. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
Arkansas-Fort Smith fell to 2-9 on the season.
