WICHITA FALLS, Texas -- Midwestern State extended its Lone Star Conference winning streak to matches with a resounding 8-1 win over Tarleton State Tuesday afternoon at the MSU Tennis Center.
The Mustangs are 9-1 since the start of the 2013 season against league foes and looks to complete its second consecutive regular season sweep Wednesday against Cameron in Lawton. First serve against the Aggies is set for 2 p.m. at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex in Lawton.
Midwestern won is seventh consecutive match against Division II opposition improving to 13-6 on the season.
The Mustangs made quick work of the TexAnns by rolling to a doubles sweep then took wins by
Maddie Schorlemmer at No. 2 and
Carrie Casey at No. 6 to seal the victory sending Tarleton State to 6-7 on the season and 0-2 in league play.
Sophomore
Courtney Anderson claimed her ninth consecutive win rolling to past Luiza Adas 6-4, 6-3 at the No. 3 singles spot to improve to 13-1 on the season and 34-4 for her career.
The MSU doubles' tandem of Schorlemmer and
Paige Boykin claimed its eighth striaght win with an 8-2 victory over Erika Richarme and Ariadna Cobezas at the No. 3 doubles position.
Senior
Taylor Coffman and junior
Kayla Casey defeated Adas and Ashleigh Elward 8-3 at No. 1, while juniors
Lauren Pineda and
Lindsay Nochowicz beat Gabriella Jansson and Ellie Stevens 8-2 at No. 2 complete the doubles' sweep.
Schorlemmer, who was playing up at the No. 2 position for the sixth time this season, defeated Elward 6-2, 6-4 while
Carrie Casey routed Cobezas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Boykin improved to 14-4 in singles' dual play this season with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Stevens and No. 4 while Nochowicz moved to 13-4 in singles duals with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Jansson at No. 5.
Richarme came back to edge Coffman 3-6, 7-5, 10-3 to provide Tarleton State's lone win of the day.
