CANYON, Texas — No. 1 West Texas A&M polished off a four-game sweep of Midwestern State with a pair of 9-1 run-rule victories both in five innings Saturday afternoon at Schaeffer Park.
The Mustangs fell to 13-8 on the season and 0-4 in Lone Star Conference play, while WT improved to 17-2 and 4-0.

Katelyn Vinson launched her sixth long ball of the year in the third inning of Game 2 to account for all of MSU's offense for the twin bill.
West Texas A&M erupted for two runs in the first, six in the third and one more in fourth to clinch the run-rule win in the opener led by two-hit efforts by Lacey Taylor and Ashley Hardin.
Erin Knox took the loss for the Mustangs to fall to 4-2 in the circle allowing eight earned runs on eight hits in four innings.

Katlyn Holmes for eight runs over the first three frames of Game 2 playing three in the first, one in the second and four in the fourth.
WT's Kaisha Dacosin connected for a home run while going 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while shortstop Stacey Ramirez went 3-for-3 and drove in two more runs.
Holmes fell to 7-4 on the season allowing seven earned runs on six hits while walking seven in three innings.
Midwestern State plays host to Texas Woman's for a four-game series next weekend at Mustangs Park. The teams play a doubleheader at 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday before closing the weekend with a pair on Saturday at 1 and 3 p.m.
